Portlet Bay Pontins Holiday Village
A holiday camp has existed in this form at Portlet Bay since the 1940's. It was taken over during the war by the Nazi's and used as a base for the troops who were based at the nearby Noirmont Point batteries. It was owned by Billy Butlin until 1994, when Sir Fred Pontin bought the site. Upon Sir Freds death in 2000, the new owners shut the site down almost immediately and put it up for sale.
Demlition started in the summer of 2006 and was completed in January 2007.
